The Whitsundays, an Edmonton group featuring members of The Faunts, Shout Out Out Out Out, and The Wet Secrets, play lush 60s-inspired psychedelic pop. To my mind they sound like Magnetic Fields, Plants & Animals, and The Beatles all rolled into one. In other words: good stuff. Currently on tour, they stop in at Sneaky Dee’s this Friday along with locals The Superstitions, and Pick A Piper, another group boasting members from other bands (Brad Weber from Caribou, for instance).Download: “Sorry James” and "It Must Be Me" off The Whitsundays’s s/t full-length (2008).
